Nathalie Doucet-Lalkens
Collaborative Artist/Vocal Coach
Originally from New-Brunswick, Canada, Nathalie is currently on Faculty at York University
in Toronto.  Having completed her Bachelors degree in performance and Pedagogy at
Université de Moncton in Canada, and her Masters degree in performance at Université de
Montréal she decided to focus her attention on coaching and accompanying full time. Nathalie
quickly began work as a coach for several years as a staff coach/accompanist of the renowned
McGill University, hailed as one of the best opera programs in North America, where she
learned a lot from her mentor and dear friend, Dixie Ross-Neill. Since then, Nathalie's
growing operatic and recital career has taken her to many companies across Canada, the
United States and Europe.

In 2000, she made her United States professional debut as Music Director for an extensive
tour with Opera Iowa of the
Des Moines Metro Opera Company. She then moved on to
Orlando opera where she was the Director of the
Orlando Opera Resident Artist Program and
Director of the Orlando Youth Opera, where she helped develop numerous programs and
musical events.  In the fall of 2003, Nathalie joined the faculty of the
University of Tennessee
school of music as Artist in Residence and coach/accompanist where she performed numerous
recitals and prepared the students for various operatic roles while also working, in conjunction
with UT, as principal coach/accompanist for the
Knoxville Opera  Company under the baton of
Francis Graffeo.

Having toured France and Germany with several professional engagements and  
performances, Nathalie was invited to travel to Oberaudorf, Germany in the summer of 2002
to be on  the coaching Faculty  for
Music Theater Bavaria and in 2005 completed a summer in
Graz, Austria as a Faculty coach of the prestigious
American Institute of Musical Studies, otherwise
knows as AIMS along side a very impressive Faculty of teachers and coaches.  

Throughout her performing career she has performed with such artists as  Marvis Martin,
Cheryl Studer,Andrew Wentzel,  Erich Parse, Linda Mabbs and Deloris Ziegler.  

As a soloist, she has  received numerous awards notably from the CIBC Canadian National
Music Competition and grants from the Canadian government. She still does some solo work
on occasion to great acclaim.  Nathalie  has performed  numerous recitals for the CBC,
Canadian Broadcast Company Radio as well as public radio stations in the US  most
frequently: WUOT in Knoxville and WMFE in Orlando.

Since her return to Canada in 2005, Nathalie has been busy working for many companies in
and around the Greater Toronto Area and Montreal such as:
Opera in Concert, Toronto
Operetta Theatre, Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, Musique pour tous-Musica per tutti, Opera
York and Brampton Lyric Opera.  She also works as a collaborator with University of Toronto
voice students.  Upcoming events for Nathalie include being on Faculty for the Center for
Opera Studies in Italy (
